French Ambassador visits OCTAL Petrochemicals

Salalah, Oman, January 28, 2010: OCTAL Petrochemicals, the region’s largest PET manufacturer recently hosted the French ambassador to Oman, Her Excellency Mrs. Malika Berak, at its plant in the Salalah Free Zone.
Ambassador Berak was accompanied by Defense Attaché, Lt-Colonel Jean-Christophe Guerder. They were given a guided tour of the plant and an up-close review of the facilities by senior officials from OCTAL.
Impressed with the OCTAL’s manufacturing capabilities, the Ambassador remarked, “OCTAL’s contribution to enhancing trade between France and Oman is commendable. Its strong product coupled with state of the art infrastructure is bound to ensure that companies worldwide and especially those in France take advantage of what OCTAL has to offer”.
OCTAL’s Managing Director, Nicholas Barakat said, “OCTAL has a well known presence in Europe and especially in France, catering to some of the major companies there. It was an honour to receive the French Ambassador at OCTAL. The Ambassador’s visit is a boost to our future growth plans for the French market.”
In four years, OCTAL has become a global leader in Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) packaging, with 300,000 MT of integrated PET manufacturing capacity and an additional 50,000 MT per annum of recycled and conventional PET Sheet capacity. Since opening its new manufacturing facility in January 2009, OCTAL now exports PET Resin and Sheet worldwide to more than 60 customers in over 40 countries, including major food and consumer brands in Europe.
